BZW: Launching Britain’s first investment bank

As a result of the London Stock Exchange’s reform of securities trading and in 1986, Barclays acquired stockbrokers DeZoete & Bevan and stockjobbers Wedd Durlacher to form BZW. The identity launched the operation ahead of competitors. The business was subsequently re-formed into Barclays Capital.
